1. The grain of quinvy (swan) turned out to be so nutritious and useful that this plant was considered for possible use in controlled ecological systems of life support in long space manned NASA missions.

2. There is an office of Planetary Protection at NASA, which will be put into full operation only if life is indeed found on other planets.

3. In 1998, NASA scientists grew insulin crystals in outer space. Researchers have discovered the colossal effectiveness of such insulin, which in turn will allow to reduce the consumption of insulin from 1-3 times a day to once every 3 days.

4. The vertical assembly building (VAB) of NASA spaceships and launch vehicles is so large that only for indoor air conditioning, about 10,000 tons of unique equipment is used to prevent the formation of rain clouds, which are formed from humidity inside the building.

5. It takes about 32 hours to transmit a signal from NASA’s command center to Voyager-1, with a bandwidth of 115.2 kilobits per second.
