The sun is the star in the center of our solar system and it is responsible for the climate and weather conditions on Earth, it is a giant thermonuclear reactor that is a source of energy and heat to support life on our planet.
1. Compared to the main celestial body, our planet is very tiny. The surface area of the Sun is 11,990 times larger than the area of the Earth, and the surface area is 1.3 million times larger, that is, 1,300,000 planets like the Earth can be placed in the middle of the Sun.
2. The mass of the Sun is approximately 330,000 times greater than the mass of the Earth, in addition, it contains 99.86% of the mass of the entire solar system.
3. The Sun is a giant ball of plasma, which is almost three-quarters hydrogen and about a quarter helium. It also contains oxygen, sulfur, magnesium, silicon, carbon, iron, neon and nitrogen, but the total mass of these elements is less than 2%.
4. The sun has an almost perfect spherical shape. Given its gigantic size, the difference between the polar and equatorial diameters is only about ten kilometers.
